New page

As stated in [[AE3/general|this]] page, the PSN version is the fastest for speedruns.
However, recently sony made it so that you cannot (at least easily) make a japanese account and buy the game on a PS3. Leaving us with the only choise of modding our console.

So here is a guide on how to hack your PS3 and get the Japanese Ape 3 on it.

== Hacking your PS3 ==
You need:

* Any model of PS3 (connected to the internet)
* USB Stick
* Computer

Older models of PS3 can be modded with custom firmware but all models can be modded with PS3HEN, which i recommend unless you plan on using your modded console for a lot more.

Read up on the models and their hacking capability [https://consolemods.org/wiki/PS3:Getting_Started here].

[https://consolemods.org/wiki/PS3:PS3HEN Here] is a good up to date text based guide on how to install PS3HEN to your system.

Once you've got PS3HEN up and running, you want to activate your console so that you can play PSN games on it. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l6ICZGn-Tmw Here] is a great video on how to achieve this.

After you've got all that set up, you need to install Ape 3, [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z8gNkl6k31w this] video shows you how you can install PSN games onto the system. (Ape 3 PSN download can be found in the discord's #announcements channel.)

== PS3 Settings ==
''TODO: explain better, add pics.''

Now, some people have reported that the PS2 games on PS3 have input delay.

I found that you can minimize this by going to the PS3 settings and turning off all smoothing and upscaling.
